Does anyone here have these? Are they a display animal or can they be handled? Are their any good, local breeders?

I would e-mail Heather on this she looked into getting one but they have weird requirements or something and that is why she didn't get them. don't wait for her to reply here she may get to in when she graduates...

From what I understand, they are display only. Awesome as all heck, but if you're looking for a gecko to hug and love and name George, I'd stick with the heartier species.![]()

I do know that there the kind you breath on wrong and they die. But thats all I know.
s/atanic are one of the more hardy species of Uro's. they can be handled lightly, but not often.
a killer care sheet
post photos if you do, i would like some myself!
i purchased some Uroplatus pietschmanni and have just been waiting for good shipping weather.
s.a.t.a.n fail :-)
They can shed their epidermis defensively....they are in that group.....very messy and bloody and unsightly. They are very fussy about temps and humidity. they are especially prone to shedding problems on all those little bumps and fleshy parts. they do not appreciate handling.
if you get one I would recommend something tall/arboreal and like 20 or more gallons. preferably more. I would definitely use lots of cork tubes, vines, fake or real plants, deep substrate and an automatic misting or cool mist vaporizing system.
