Something new I learned tonight:

Orange head roaches cannot eat an entire small adult rat. Also, they will drag the carcass underneath the corkbark, so one day when you are fishing around in the bin, you will pull out a dried up rat skeleton complete with tufts of fur.

I'm really glad I didn't find that when Marc's kids were over!! Although the boy probably would have thought it was cool.

They did eat enough of it that I never smelled dead rat. They've devoured entire weanlings, bones and all, so I was surprised that they couldn't eat the bones of a small one. If only my other roaches were so clean! I never have to fish deads out of the orange head bin. :)

JenniferNigel (my 11 year old son) probably would have shoved it in his little sisters face (like he did the terrantula's molt:eek: ) then he could really get a good shrieking scream out of her again:rolleyes: ...man that made my skin crawl when she screamed ,lol.Couldnt blame the boy though.
