View Full Version : looking to adopt a crestie
Well we have been interested in getting a lizard for a while now i think a crestie would be the best fit. Seem to be the easiest to feed. lol
I have everything needed to house a crestie. Just need to go get food once we have one lined up.
Kinda on the lower end of the budget but let me knw what you have, prices and pictures would be great!
We would prefer one with a tail, and one a little bigger.
Hello,
I have a lovely little female dalmation with a gorgeous rosy blush that's available for $40. She does have her tail. She's about 20 grams right now. This picture was taken when she was smaller. She's very sweet and doesn't mind being handled at all.

Food has been difficult to find lately. I suggest ordering some online or from the couple of people here who sell it.

ok new post coming who sells crestie food? :chef:
monster on these forums, (Julie Sharkey of Black Ink Reptiles) sells it, (she's in Everett) as does the Bean Farm, which is in Carnation. A 4 oz bag should last you a long time with only one crestie to feed.
There are lots of us on here with Cresties, I have a couple of hatchlings I'm looking to rehome soon. Where are you located at?
im in Tacoma. I think i will be picking up the girl from julia. Maybe another from from some one else too. I may in a couple weeks be looking to get two more.
Will 2 adult girls be ok in a 20 gallon? Will two baby girls be ok in a 10 gallon?
Or should i do two babies in a 20 gallon and two adults in a 40 gallon?
I really think you need to do a lot more research before you go buying multiple crested geckos and housing them all together.
Here is a great basic caresheet, and site you can begin your research on:
http://www.forums.repashy.com/care-sheets/25853-rhacodactylus-ciliatus-crested-gecko.html
oh no i dont plan on housing them all together! I would like to have two enclosures with 2 geckos each. But i am fully prepared to have each in seperate enclosures if they dont get along.
I was just trying to figure out if each adult gecko needs 20 gallons of space.
Meaning if i have two adult females housed together would they need to be in a 40 gallon.
I think its a resonable queston as some care shheets say "20 gallon for adult crested geckos" that means more then one. Other say "20 gallons for a adult crested gecko" that means one.
General rule of thumb is ideally, 15 gallons per adult gecko. But I keep some of mine in 11 gallons (they get out time and handling daily).
2 geckos can comfortably exist in an 18x18x18 Exo, and I keep 3 in an 18x18x24 Exo (or equivalent).
Ideally you do want at least 10 gals per gecko. As long as there are ample hiding places, you shouldn't have any issues.
I tend to keep little ones/hatchlings in small Kritter Keepers, as this makes it easier for them to feel secure and promotes them eating well. Sometimes hatchlings don't do so well in a cage thats too big and they stop eating. (in my experience). I move them up once they hit about 6-8 grams.
