I want to know if anyone here has any interest or knowledge on lobster roaches?
I know our resident bug expert, Jenn, hates them (they climb) but I also know they're awesome feeders for beardies, etc.
I have a small colony of 6 and I am wondering whether to feed them off, try and colonize them, or sell them to someone who would want to start a breeding colony.
Any opinions/suggestions?

I have had a colony going for quite a while...I bet I have about 15-20,000 at any given time. I think they are great...use this species more than any other I have ever kept, due to their small size and great breeding rate. I just feed more of them to anything that may require a larger bug. But I also breed Dubias and Mad. Hissers too. But I reach for the Lobsters most of the time! IMO, I think 6 is not enough to comprise a starter colony. I started with 1000 (15-20% adults). You may not even have pairs or healthy young pairs that will breed. I would recommend you just feed those guys off and hook up with me sometime somehow and I'll get ya a real group that is strong enough in numbers to not only supply you with what you need immediately but also enough to keep the colony going while you are pulling them to feed off. And mixed ages are a must to be sure young adults are always entering the breeding mix. I love my lobsters...some folks may remember my "scourge" video I posted here of them. If ya though that was bad, the colony has at least tripled since then!

Thanks for the info and opinions, Yasser! I was thinking that 6 wasn't quite enough to get an established colony. I will go ahead and feed them off to my Fire Skink. He's the big roach eater. My issue with the lobsters is that they can climb glass! I was getting some from a guy in Shoreline that had a colony for his beardie (he got me started on the B. Dubias, which I love!) and he would cut the legs off one side of the roaches for me. (barf!)
My Fire Skink, my White Lineds and my African Fat tails are the only kids that really eat roaches on any sort of regular basis.
If you have any other non-climbing species of roach that are relatively the same size as the Turkistan or lobster roaches, let me know, thanks!
You gonna be at the Hillsboro show by chance? :)
