Ive got a baby Yellow biak green tree python i just got at the puallyp expo , im looking to trade for either a pair or a nice single carpet python , jungle iran jaya or coastal. please email pics if interested
I wonder what changed their mind about the GTP?? What, it wasn't pretty enough?
Could be they didn't realize that you aren't supposed to handle baby GTPs for like a year, and are now wanting something they can touch. Also, aren't Biaks known for being bitey?

Most people would discourage holding gtps until after a year or so. Their pretty delicate as their spine is prone to damage or kinks.

Yeah, I knew that Biaks are the bitey ones (too bad they're the prettiest, IMHO). I figured that somone who would drop the $$ to buy one @ a show would know what they were getting into. I guess not...?

Neonates should never be handled for the first year unless it comes on your hand and even at that point u have to wait till it returns to its perch by its self as well.
So most experts say – no handling.
Once the Gtp becomes a yearling it is established but even than should only be held for no more than around 15min. they are easily stressed out.
Biaks are known for being nippier than others but it just depends on the Gtp I find out as with all snakes.
My guess is he took the snake home and it’s not eating for him - as Gtp tend to take their meal slightly different.
For Morelia’s new owners don’t realize feeding sometimes can be tough and if it is stressed it can refuse and for a baby it can be fatal.
Also he may not have done his research before his purchase not realizing the daily care for the new animal.
But these are guesses who knows maybe he just decided that Gtp aren’t for him.
Either way I hope it comes to the herp society with a good lovely home.

Hey Shauna I've been talking with him and yes he admited it was an impulse buy. He said he doesn't have time for it and it is a little nippy. He did mention however it has eaten a few meals and shed once. He bought it from LLL and I know to well about their animals. I'm willing to trade but not fork out $250 plus my snake. lol!

First off Jayson , i never told you $250 and your snake. I was willing to let her go for $250 , but i was also considering your trade offer for $50 plus your coastal. which at this point you can forget it .
Secondly - i never told you i didnt have time, i said i prefer carpets , would like to handle my snake more and the GTP need more humidity and its a bit of a chore for the upkeep. Thats quite a bit different than saying i dont have the time.
For anyone interested:
The snake is still up for trade , for the right carpet or i'd like $250 cash will probly go tad bit lower for someone serious.
She is from lll reptiles , i was told from the lady that sold her to me she is captive, age 4-5 months old . She has eaten 1 small mouse every week since i got her she also shed complete 2 weeks ago. She is in perfect health and cared for well. I also spray her every day to keep her hydrated. if anyone is interested in The GTP feel free to email me sjatm941@comcast.net
Reasons for trading or selling her , id like to handle my snake and i dont want to deal with the upkeep as GTP are more to care for than other snakes . GTP are just not for me .
She is Killer looking though
Thanks
Sean Mcc
I'd love to see pics! I'm not interested in buying (for the same reasons you are selling her :) ), but I do love to look at them, they are so pretty. They're on my "someday" list. As in "someday I will win the lotto and be able to pay someone to keep my zoo for me!" :D

I'm sorry but according to the emails you sent what was I supposed to think. I also posted that before you supposedly emailed me back stating you meant that email for another person. I think you took my posts the wrong way. I think the upkeep and chore of keeping a gtp can be interpeted as a time issue. Sorry you took offense to that because it was not my intention. That is fine if you don't want to deal with me I really have my concerns about purchasing another gtp from LLL reptile. Btw I would check your little Biaks tail for any kinks because the sexing them that young tends to break or damage their spine. It may look okay now but as they get older it's more noticeable. Just a tip... also they are not captive bred but from Bushmaster. She may have told you that but 99% of the time that is where they are from. Good luck with your sale! Here is the email...
OH IT WAS JUST A OFFER , ANOTHER PERSON ASKED WHAT ID SELL HER FOR . oopps cap on .So i thought id throw that out there . Let me wait for this one other person to reply , if they dont want to but her i may trade with you . Thanks Sean

Not sure what you mean? I thought you wanted to trade? I'm willing to p/u and drop off the coastal. I would rather spend that money and buy a Sorong from a respectable breeder. I might be willing to chip in $50 if your serious. Thanks, Jayson

Any pics of her? LLL reptile says they are captive bred but more often they are not. I learned the hard way with my first gtp I bought. It was shipped to me full of mites and had a stuck shed. It took a good month or so before I got it up to speed again. Most likely they are bushmaster stock. I'd still be willing to trade though as I have the correct setup for one. Let me work on getting you another pic. Thanks, Jayson

oh ya , the GTP is great , its a female . She eats great too . 1 small mouse a week . i got her from lll reptiles . I was told she is captive bred as well . Best i could tell is she would be about 4-5 months . She is 08 . I kind of bought her on impuls , i perfer the carpets as i have owned a couple in the past . Yes one of the reasons id like a carpet is to ba able to handle it . I have only handled her a couple times to remover from her cage for cleaning , she struck at me a couple times and got me once but was no big deal , sharp teeth though. Ya if you got another pic id be interested in looking . I guess the two main reasons of trading would be to handle the snake and set up , these green trees need more hmidity and its a chore for me . i have her in a 10g glass aquarium right now with temps about 81 not very stable though , i mist every evening .Any thing else ?

size and weight?
you might want to put him in a tub instead that enclosure looks a wee bit big and will probably stress him out. cant really tell from the pic though.
cant really say how much she weighs i dont own a scale and my best guess she is about 20-25 inches long. She is currently in a 10g tank. ill take some better pics today.
