The next meeting is coming up this Sunday, the 16th. (Yes, I know, the newsletter is late again.) If you would like to purchase feeder insects and/or frozen feeder rodents, you can PM or email pre-orders to me so I will have your order packed and ready at the meeting! My email is seattlefeeders (at) gmail (dot) com.

I am in the process of switching to a new supplier of frozen rodents. My previous supplier essentially got cut off by Greyhound and could no longer ship as cheaply. This week I will get my first shipment from Big Cheese Rodents and if all goes well I will have a better quality of feeder for the same affordable price! Also if all goes well, I'll get the boxes before the meeting.... Otherwise, right now I am out of all rat sizes above small. As a matter of fact, I'm going to give them a call right now and find out when the rats will ship.

Pricing has been posted in previous threads on this subject, but if anyone has questions let me know and I will answer them!

Do you generally bring lots of extras to the meetings? I am not sure what I need yet, but I would like to buy some.
Also, what forms of payment do you take?

I'll need crickets by then for sure. Probably about 20-25 crickets, mixed sizes? :)

I've got crickets, giants and superworms. I doubt if I'll have large mealworms but I'll ask my supplier if they have any available. I need to call them today and get my order in. I was going to do it this morning, but for *some reason* I was tired this morning and passed out for 3 hours after driving Tommy to work! Probably had something to do with getting to bed at 1 am, and involved guests, lots of food and 2 bottles of wine....

Anyways, I will definitely have the first three bugs at the meeting, and I can bring roaches if you want them. I took a peek at the colonies yesterday and they seem to be doing fine overwintering in the garage so far. Saille, I can bring a batch of mixed sizes for you.

Nippy, I bring as many extras with me as I can fit in the coolers. I have two huge 100 quart coolers and I usually have one with just extras in every size. I accept cash and check.

I should have all sizes of rats, unless some buses break down. :) My rats shipped today and are supposed to arrive Friday. That means they will probably be there on Saturday, but that's fine. I may be late to Deb's party, but the rats are pretty darn important!

Hehe..I'm OK with you being late if it's cause of rats! :D

Deb, if I gave you a check for jenn, could you get them from the meeting for me?

We need

75-100 Gram Rats (12)
Weanling Rats (12)
200-300 Gram Rats (4)
100 Giant Mealworms if you can get them

How much for 40 or so Dubias?

We may also need to pick up some rats for a little foster Ball that we will be taking home. I don't know what size yet though.

:)

I'm not sure if I can make it down to the meeting for sure, but if you could stash a hundred or so extra medium and small crickets for me just in case it would be much appreciated! I'm going to try to get to the meeting if at all possible this month!

EDIT: Looks like I work next weekend, so if there are patients to care for I won't make it. I won't know until Saturday, but I'll let you know if I find out I won't be there for sure.

Thanks,

The dubias are $0.20 each, so that would be $8. Let me know if you want them, and if you need the nymphs on the big or small size.

I'll have the rats and giants for you at the meeting. There should be plenty of extras to pick through for the foster.

Thanks!

Yep! No problem. And if you can't pass them a check (25 X $1.60 = $40) you can mail it to me. PM me if you need the address.

Thanks!

We need a combination of the large and small Dubias. We are trying to boost our breeding colony.

We also need 100 crickets.

Thanks!

Cool, I'll put together a nice mix. What size cricket do you want? I have 1", 1/2", and a small amount of 1/4".

Can you give me a mix of 100 of the med and lg for Puff?

Then also give me whatever you have in the 1/4" in a seperate container? I don't want more that 30 or 40 though. My leo has sworn off mealworms for some reason, so we are back to crickets until I figure out what her deal is. I don't want to waste Dubias on her if she doesn't want to eat.

Jenn

For the crickets, do you want 100 medium and 100 large? Or if you want, you'd save a little by going for 250 (in one container), so I could mix both sizes in a box. For the worms, I usually don't make smaller cups than 50. For you, I can do a cup of 25 :), or if you want 50 giants they will keep in the fridge for a few weeks.

I mentioned Bella to Dr. Jonson-Delaney at Eastside Avian when I was there last week. :) The doctor was showing me her two full-size opossums (very cute!), and said she'd had one like Bella before and I think it lived to be 7 years old? It lived longer than the "expected" life span. While I was there I also got to see another client's wallaby and wallaroo. It was quite the day for exotic mammals....

I'm afraid Kirkland would be a bit of a drive from Puyallup! :)

Giants should last at least 3 weeks in the fridge. They will slowly dessicate, but if you're worried you can take them out of the fridge for a day and feed them a little bit of carrots or greens and then put them back in. If they are left out for too long (usually takes a week or two) they will turn into pupae. You can still feed them at this stage, but it's better to keep them in hibernation in the fridge so they aren't using up their fat stores.

Izzy, I forgot to send your rats home with Deb! Sorry!! PM me a date and time that would be good to meet up. Pick a spot along the freeway that's easy to find and I'll meet you halfway, if that's fine with you.

Jenn, Bella loves the Dubias. She has a belly full.. it was so cute to watch her chomp them down.

Took her a min. to eat them to get through the tough shell but once she had like 3 she was ready for more:D

thanks!!!

I hadn't started a new thread for this month yet, but this one works! :D So, the next meeting is Sunday the 14th. It's the potluck & auction, but I will have feeders in a side room. I would like to sit through the auction, but I can help people with feeders before and after!

Are those sizes for crickets? I'll be sure to have them for you. Thanks!
