I read a few rule books and online pdf's, but nothing is really 100%. I see that oregon is pretty obvious and you can maybe collect...a bullfrog ?

anywho, i am trying to get the real scoop as i don't want to go to jail.
I have spoken to WDFW and they don't know... he said I need to get a commercial collecting license, but where? the only one i find is a scietific collecting license that implies you should be a scientist or a teacher.

I never had a problem catching a few frogs when i was a kid, but as an adult ( mostly) i am trying to fly right ( mostly).

N

are there no rules?

Bullfrogs are not native and are considered game animals, they are under the fishing regulations IIRC. The rest are off limits w/o a scientific collecting permit. There is no commercial collecting permit.

Essentially, look, take photos, but leave them in the field.

Check out that thread. I did a lot of looking to find out most of that info. Basically animals that are not on the protected list fall under unprotected wildlife. Which means you can take them as personal collections. Permits are only required to move unprotected wildlife from one area in the wild to another area in the wild for relocation.

UNPROTECTED WILDIFE
This Group includes native wildlife species that are not classified as "game animals" or "protected wildlife”. Unprotected wildlife may be taken from the wild either dead or alive. Unprotected wildlife taken into captivity must be maintained in a humane manner (OAR 635-44-132). A permit is required to release or relocate any unprotected wildlife into the wild.

THE LIST BELOW IS AMPHIBIANS YOU CANNOT TAKE FROM THE WILD AT ALL!!

*It is unlawful to "hunt, trap, pursue, kill, take, catch, angle for, or have in possession, either dead or alive, whole or in part" any protected species (OAR 635-44-130)

I thought it was the same in Washington, there is no commercial collecting of wild indigenous species, without the proper permits of course.

There seems to be way to much confusion about to this....

Wa. No collection unless you are a scientist with a state issued permit.

Or. You, Joe field herper can collect to your hearts content as long as you dont take any of these creatures.
